Franco Sortini
Italian photographer born in 1958, he currently lives and works in Salerno, Italy. He has dedicated himself to photography since the early 1980s, under the guidance of Franco Fontana.
Since 1982 he has been producing color photographs of landscapes and architecture. His research focuses on the empty city, in a quest for the concept of “the ideal city” – a place where one can find order amidst chaos. The use of color is appreciated for its ability to express Mediterranean reality and light.
In recent years, he has exhibited his works in several art galleries throughout Europe. His photographs are present in the collections of the Bibliotheque Nationale de France in Paris, the AFOCO Archive of Cordoba, the Galleria Civica in Modena, the Modern Arts Department at the University of Siena, the Museo dello Sbarco in Salerno and in many private collections.
He has published several books on photography and some limited-edition artist’s books. His photographs have been published in a large number of magazines and web magazines.
